Chinese philosophies help us understand the Bible better...
The Way, The Light, The Walk
道不同不相为谋 — Confucius
“Those who do not share the same Way cannot walk together.” Simple wisdom: deep partnership requires a common foundation.
▸ The Light Is a Person
Confucius gave us the principle — John gives us the Person. The Light is Jesus — not an idea, not a code. To walk in the light is to follow Him daily, in ordinary moments.
✦ Spiritual fellowship becomes life experience
Forgiveness · Truth · Bearing burdens · Patience at home · Honesty at work · Love for enemies — this is flesh-and-blood Christianity.
📜 Confucius
- Shared Way enables partnership
- Wisdom for earthly relationships
- Separation when paths diverge
✝️ 1 John 1:7
- Shared Light enables fellowship
- Eternal truth · spiritual reality
- Unity when paths converge on Christ
▸ Cleansing · Present & Continuous
The blood of Jesus doesn't just cleanse once — it keeps cleansing (present continuous). As you walk, you will stumble. Dust gathers. But the Light you walk in is also the Light of the Cross — actively washing every sin, even those you don't yet see.
☀️ A Prayer for the Walk
Lord Jesus, You are the Light — not a concept, but a living Savior. Today I choose to walk in You. Not in my own righteousness, but in Your presence. Cleanse me as I go. Forgive me when I stumble. Give me eyes to see my brothers and sisters beside me in this same Light. Let my fellowship be real — in patience, honesty, service, and love. My path is not my own; it is You. You are enough. Amen.
