Jesus invited us to trust Him and ask to receive His answer for us that our joy may be full.
✦ The Rhythm of Receiving
— Mark 11:24 (NIV)
𧱠The Foundation
Before Jesus said, “Believe that you have received,” He said, “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22). Faith in His character—not in your prayer technique—is the root. Everything else is fruit.
But Jesus deliberately added: “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (Mark 11:25). Unforgiveness is a blockage—a clog in the pipe of your receiving.
⛔ The Hidden Blockage
You can have mountain-moving faith. You can ask with eloquence. You can believe with all your heart. But if you are secretly nursing a wound—against a person, against a situation, or even against God Himself—your prayer hits a ceiling.
◈ Against someone: They hurt you. They betrayed you. And you have built a fortress around that pain. Jesus says: open the gate. Not because they deserve it, but because your freedom depends on it.
◈ Against God: “God, why did You let that happen?” That silent bitterness clenches your fists so tightly you cannot receive anything new from His hand.
π The Rhythm — with Clear Channels
Faith → Forgive & Release → Ask → Believe → Act → Receive
1. FAITH – The Anchor. You trust God's character, even when you don't understand His ways. “You are good, even when my story hurts.”
2. FORGIVE & RELEASE – The Unblocking. Before you ask, you examine your heart. Is there anyone—including God—you are holding in debt? You choose to release them. “I give them to You. I let go of the score.” This is not excusing the wrong; it's freeing yourself from the prison of resentment.
3. ASK – The Expression. Now your hands are open—no longer clenched in anger. You bring your need plainly, with childlike dependence.
4. BELIEVE – The Inner Reality. You choose to believe you have already received. Your heart is no longer divided by hidden bitterness, so your “amen” can be wholehearted.
5. ACT – The Outward Proof. You move in obedience—which may include a phone call, a whispered prayer for your offender, or laying down the heavy burden of replaying the offense.
6. RECEIVE – The Fulfillment. With the channel cleared, what God has for you can actually reach you. You receive in time what you already possessed in spirit.
π️ If You’re Struggling to Forgive
“Father, I don’t feel like forgiving them. What they did was wrong. But I give You my unwillingness. I choose by an act of my will to release them into Your hands. Please heal my heart and help me to truly forgive—even if it takes time. I don’t want this blockage anymore.”
π Today’s Practice
- Examine – Sit quietly. Ask the Holy Spirit: “Is there anyone I am holding a grudge against? Is there any bitterness toward You?”
- Write it down – Name the person, the offense, or the disappointment with God.
- Release – Read that list aloud and say: “I choose to forgive. I release them to You.” If it’s against God, say: “I release my offense against You. I choose to trust Your goodness again.”
- Destroy the list – Tear it up, burn it, or delete it—as a physical sign of release.
- Then pray – Now, with open hands, bring your request to God. Believe. Act. Receive.
π Closing Prayer
Today, I choose to forgive. Not because they deserve it—but because You have forgiven me so much more. I release every name, every offense, every disappointment into Your righteous hands. I unclench my fists and open my palms to receive from You again.
Now, Lord, I bring my need to You. I believe I have already received Your answer. Help me to act in obedience and to wait with peace—because the channel is clear, and Your love is flowing freely. Amen.
Faith → Forgive → Ask → Believe → Act → Receive
