You are God’s dwelling place: Carson stresses that this “temple” is primarily the church community, not just the individual. God doesn’t just live in your heart—He lives among His people. Your unity with other believers isn’t optional; it’s sacred. Divisions and factions aren’t just relational failures—they are acts of desecrating the very space where God chooses to dwell.
God’s Spirit lives in you: Prince would point you to grace: the Spirit doesn’t dwell in you because you earned it, but because Christ finished the work. This isn’t a warning to make you fearful—it’s an invitation to rest. You are not a temple under threat of eviction; you are a beloved dwelling place, constantly filled with the Spirit’s power, love, and peace. Let that security sink in today.
Holy living matters: Keller presses deeper: if God’s Spirit lives in you, then your deepest needs—for worth, safety, and belonging—are already met in Him. You don’t need to compete, compare, or perform. The gospel frees you from both self-condemnation and self-exaltation. Holy living flows not from fear, but from the joy of being fully known and fully loved. You can love others because the same Spirit who indwells you indwells them too.
Am I building up or tearing down the church community with my attitudes and words?
Do I truly believe God’s Spirit lives in me by grace, not by my performance?
Where am I still seeking worth from people instead of from the God who dwells in me?

Father, thank You that Your Spirit lives not only in me, but in my brothers and sisters. Forgive me for the ways I’ve treated Your temple carelessly—through division, pride, or indifference. Help me to rest in Your grace, to build with love, and to find my identity in You alone. May my life and my community reflect Your holy presence today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
