The Narrowness of Truth, The Sufficiency of Christ

“But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” — Matthew 7:14 (NIV)

1. The Geometry of Reality Jesus draws a stark line: Two gates. Two roads. Two destinations. One is wide, crowded, and easy; the other narrow, lonely, and hard. The gate is narrow because truth itself is narrow. Truth (Fixed Shape): Bound by reality, logic, and God's character (e.g., 2+2=4; Sin leads to death; Jesus is Lord). You cannot bend truth without breaking it. Untruth (Shapeless): Unmoored from reality and infinitely flexible. It adapts to feelings. Satan introduced possibility ("Did God really say?") where God gave certainty. The wide road accepts anything—meaning nothing is ultimately true. It offers an illusion of freedom but results in chaos and separation from God, who is Truth (John 14:6). 2. One Way Is Mercy, Not Narrow-Mindedness In a world celebrating "many paths," Jesus claims He is the Way (John 14:6). One way is actually good news: 1. Only God Bridges the Gap: Religion is humanity climbing up to God; the Gospel is God climbing down to us. "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus." (1 Tim 2:5) 2. It Is Finished: Many paths leave you endlessly guessing if you've done enough. One way—Jesus—means salvation depends on His finished work (John 19:30), offering rest instead of stress. 3. Ultra-Inclusive Offer: The gate is narrow, but the invitation is wide open to anyone: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened" (Matt 11:28). Only those insisting on their own map are excluded.

3. The Bridge, Not the Cage A bridge is narrow, but it is the only safe structure that spans the chasm. God's laws are not arbitrary cage bars; they are descriptions of how reality safely works. Forgive me for thinking my deeds could add to what You've done. You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. I stop striving and rest in You. Lead me step by step.
