  • 1 Leader of Family:
    • Fathers are called to be the leaders or heads of their families. They are to provide for their families physically, emotionally, and spiritually and also to protect them from harm.
    • Joshua 24:15: 
      • "But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

        # Father as Spiritual Leader of the family.

    • Psalm 103:13: 
      • "As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him."

        # Father loves his family

    • 1 Timothy 3:4-5
      •  "He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect."

        # As a good Manager of his family earning respect from all.


  • 2 Build & Lead a Family Altar

    A time of Family Worship, Sharing, Prayers & Teaching

    • to foster spiritual growth and unity within your household.
    • dedicating time to worship, instructing children in the ways of the Lord, and fostering unity within the family. Have discussions, prayers, and reflections during your gatherings.
    • Colossians 3:16
      • "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."
    • Matthew 18:20
      • "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them."
    • Exodus 20:24-26
      • You shall build an altar to me, and sacrifice burnt offerings and peace offerings on it. I will come to you and bless you if you obey my commandments and keep my statutes as I have given them to you.

  • 3 Teacher & role model:
    • Deuteronomy 6:6-9:
      • "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.

        # Father must first learn from God, the Heavenly Father.

      • Impress them on your children.

        # Teach & Live Out the Godly teaching.

      • Talk about them when you sit at home and
      • when you walk along the road,
      • when you lie down, and when you get up.

        # All the time

      • Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

        # Use various methods to memorize and retrieve the Words of God.

      • Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."

        # Write them in obvious places as reminders for all in the family

    • Proverbs 22:6:
      • "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not depart from it."

        # Teach them when they are young.

    • Colossians 3:21
      • "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead,

        # Do not force it on them. Teach them according to their stages of development. Do not overwhelm them. When they get older they will learn it.

        The inability to learn creates frustration and hatred for the subjects.

      • bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

        # So, teach according to their ability to absorb.


  • 4 Provider:
    • Fathers are called to provide for their families financially. This means working hard to earn a living and being wise with their money.
    • 1 Timothy 5:8:
      • "But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever."
    • 1 Thessalonians 4:12:
      • "And to work hard and to be kind to others, to be generous and willing to share."

  • 5 Husband:
    • Fathers are called to love their wives as Christ loves the church. This means being selfless, sacrificial, and committed to their wives.
    • Ephesians 5:25:
      • "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."
    • Colossians 3:19:
      • "Husbands, love your wives and be considerate of them."

  • 6 Disciplinarian:

    A Painful Act of Love

    • Fathers are called to discipline their children in a loving and consistent way. Discipline is not about punishment; it is about teaching children right from wrong and helping them to grow into responsible adults.
    • Psalm 127:3
      • "Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him."
    • Proverbs 13:24:
      • "The one who loves their children is careful to discipline them."
    • Ephesians 6:4:
      • "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."

        # Punishment without loving care first will result in rebellion. Need to listen to their point of view and explain the reasons for the discipline. Later, reassure them of your love. Separate the wrong doing from the child.

    • Colossians 3:21
      • "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead,

        # Do not force it on them. Teach them according to their stages of development. Do not overwhelm them. When they get older they will learn it.

  • 7 Friend:
    • Fathers are called to be friends with their children. This means listening to them, understanding them, and being there for them through good times and bad.
    • Proverbs 17:6:
      • "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."
    • Proverbs 27:17
      • "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

  • 8 Legacy & Heritage: Bless their Children
    • Psalm 78:4
      • "We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done."

        #The best legacy is not money but wisdom - knowledge of God

    • Proverbs 13:22
      • "A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous."

        # Leave an inheritance for their grandchildren

    • Proverbs 20:7:
      • "The righteous lead blameless lives; blessed are their children after them."
        # Genesis 27:4: Issac blessed ...Genesis 48:15-16: "Then he [Jacob] blessed Joseph...Deuteronomy 33:1: "This is the blessing that Moses, the man of God, pronounced upon the Israelites before his death."
  • Prayer:
    • Teach us, Lord, to be like you, as a loving Father with grace and wisdom. May we love our spouse and children with the love that you gave us. A love that spoils us not but with guidance and discipline for our development and growth. May we pass on Your Words by not just teaching but living them out for our children to see. May we be blessed to be able to live a legacy and inheritance for our children and grandchildren. May we be a light bringing glory to You. In Jesus' Name, amen.
