What does Biblical Success look like?

Biblical Success is "A New Identity & Good Relationships with God and men"

  • #1 to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and

Accept Jesus Christ's Salvation and be adopted into God's family

  • #2 to love one another as he commanded us.

Have loving relationships with others as testimony to our new identity & His love.

  • 1 John 3:23-24
    • "And this is his command:
    • The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us."

know must be accompanied by obeying

  • #3 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and

Our priority is "Thy kingdom come & Thy will be done on earth". Let God's standards and rules be established on earth by us living them out.

  • #4 All these things will be given to you as well."

All our needs for living well on earth will be met by God.

  • Matthew 6:33
    • These things in context are food/wealth, health/living, glory/clothes.

Such external success comes from prioritizing the Kingdom of God and living in accordance with His righteousness.

  • "What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"

Soul is more important than external possessions of wealth. Soul priority is doing point #1.#2,#3,#4.

    • Mark 8:36 (NIV):
  • #5 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things, there is no law."

Christ's character is the measurement standard.

Success is defined as how Christ-like we are.

    • Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV):
  • In summary
    • success is about living in a harmonious relationship with God and men., enjoying peace/joy, health, wealth, respect, and eternal life. e.g. Ps 23v6 as pointed out in the post:

Your identity(God's child) & relationships(with God and men) are more important than wealth. The rest of the post gives the specific principles to achieve the objectives of identity relationships and possessions.
