The Benefits and The Content of Wisdom - Proverbs 24

Wisdom accomplishes and gives you a good future. But what is its content? How can one be wise to live the good life? Proverbs 24 gives us the details.

I The Benefits Brought by Wisdom & Knowledge

Wisdom Builds
  • Houses - Know and Plan 1st then Build
    • a house is built, and by understanding it is established; Pro 24:3
    • by knowledge, the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Pro 24:4

  • Victory - Get guidance from many people
    • for by wise guidance you can wage your war
    • and in abundance of counselors there is victory. Pro 24:6
  • Strength - A wise man is full of strength,
    • a man of knowledge enhances his might, Pro 24:5 
    • Adversity builds strength
    • If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small. Pro 24:10
    • for the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity. Pro 24:16 -Down but Not Out - Try again but do it differently
  • Like Honey - Joy in Learning
  • My son, eat honey, for it is good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste. Pro 24:13
  • Future & Hope - Better future begins with  learning a new skill now
  • Pro 24:14 Know that wisdom is such to your soul; if you find it, there will be a future, and your hope will not be cut off.

Wisdom Is
  • Fear The Lord & The King
    Obey God & The Authority and do not join with those who do otherwise, Pro 24:21
  • Keep the right friends - Wrong friends bring sudden disastersfor disaster will arise suddenly from them, and who knows the ruin that will come from them both? Pro 24:22
  • On Evil Men  & How to handle them
  • 1 Be not envious of Their temporary wealth Prov 24:1, 19
  • 2 Fret not Pro 24:19 Their ending will come
    • for the evil man has no future;
    • the lamp of the wicked will be put out. Pro 24:20
  • 3 Nor desire to be with them, Pro 24:1Don't mix with them because they are:
    • devise violence Pro 24:2, 8 talk of trouble. Pro 24:2
    • against the dwelling of the righteous; violence to his home; Pro 24:15
  • 4 Rebuke Wicked in the right way.
    Rebuke the wicked & there is hope.
    Fool however, cannot even be corrected.Prov 23:9, 26:4
    Don't correct a mocker either Prov 9:8
    • Do not side with wicked Pro 24:24
    • Rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them. Pro 24:25

  • wisdom speak not to fool Pro 24:7
    (ESV) The devising of folly is sin, and the scoffer is an abomination to mankind. (GW) Foolish scheming is sinful, and a mocker is disgusting to everyone.Pro 24:9

  • Rescue - Share the Gospels
  • Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. Pro 24:11
    God knows & will repay man according to his work? Pro 24:12
  • On Enemy
  • Don't take revenge; Two evils don't make it right
    • Do not say, "I will do to him as he has done to me; I will pay the man back for what he has done." Pro 24:29
  • Do not rejoice when your enemy falls Pro 24:17
    • lest the LORD see it and be displeased, and turn away his anger from him. Pro 24:18
  • Be Just
  • Partiality in judging is not good. Pro 24:23
  • Honesty
  • Whoever gives an honest answer kisses the lips. Pro 24:26
  • Be not a witness against your neighbor without cause, and do not deceive with your lips. Pro 24:28
  • Plan & Prepare
  • Prepare your work outside; get everything ready for yourself in the field, and after that build your house. Pro 24:27
  • Diligence
  • A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, Pro 24:33
